Tue 1-Jul 03	Swords, Co. Dublin

Jason has (reluctantly) extended his contract with ClientLogic for a further two months - till the end of August.

Sat 5-Jul 03	Dublin - went to see Ragús Show

In the evening went to the Olympia Theatre in Dublin to see the show Ragús (pronounced something line Ra-goose).  A very good show of traditional Irish music, amazing dancing and humour too, originally from the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland.  The Olympia is a reasonably small venue so it felt like quite a personal show with a bit of banter back and forth between the stage band and audience.  Highly recommended - we would go again! (in fact we did, in Kilronan when visited the Aran Islands, August 3rd!).

Fri 11-Jul 03	Dublin - Jason Byrne @ Vicar St.

Tonight we went to the Vicar Street venue in Dublin to see the comedian Jason Bryne.  Didn't think a lot of the venue itself (which is a pity, as were going back the next night - very uncomfortable seating!) but Jason Bryne was very good and very clever.  We had read reviews saying that it is rumoured he turns up with a few ideas in mind before walking on stage, but no actual plan - not sure if this is true or not, but could see what they were getting at as he certainly seems makes up a lot of material on the spot by picking on people in the audience!  (luckily not us).  Very funny and very 'mental' (which is also a favourite word of his)!

Sat 12-Jul 03	Dublin - "Barry Murphy's Comedy Circus" @ Vicar St.

Tonight we returned to Vicar Street to see "Barry Murphy's Comedy Circus" - this is a new show (started in June with monthly shows planned) organised by Irish Comedian Barry Murphy, consisting of an assortment of Comedy acts, both of established artists as well as giving a chance to up and coming comedians.  An extremely funny evening!  Barry Murphy himself is extremely funny while pretending not to be in an MC type role; Reuben was a very funny mime artist who practically stole the show - along with Tommy Tiernan he was a crowd favourite; Tommy Tiernan is extremely talented and hilariously funny - want to see him again!; Dermot Carmody made up funny Irish ballads on the spot! Others included Gary Cooke, Dave McSavage, Aengus MacAnally, and Deidre O'Kane.  A very good night of laughs with a good range of acts (even though couldn't always understand what they were saying!).  Want to go back to next one.

The Finale consisted of all the acts doing 'Whiskey in the Jar' - similar to Thin Lizzy's version, with Aengus playing some great guitar, but sung like Bryan Ferry!  Very strange; strange peculiar and funny!

Sun 13-Jul 03	Swords - visited Enniskerry/Powerscourt Estate (again)

We have been in Ireland 5 months now!

Bussed out to Enniskerry to go to Powerscourt Estate again now that it is Summer and all gardens will be in flower (were last here back on 2nd March).  This was a very pretty estate before, but even prettier now with the multitude of colours and a nice fine day.  Hot but bearable, although we did both get a bit sunburnt!  It was definitely well worth going back.
